12-16-93 Setting Parity Stop Bits
The setting for Parity & modem Speed is set in S register 23 of the
modem. But YOU cannot set them. You set it in the software, and when you
type AT it automatically sets that register. So even if you were to set the
bits in the register, the next AT command will re-set that register the way
the software is set.
Bits (word length) and Stop bit are also set in software, and must
match the software on the other end.
The most common combination is 8,N,1 and much less but common is
7,E,1. (Bit, Parity, Stop). Any other combination is rare and may require
special software.
